A special made air racer, the GeeBee Model R was one of the fastest aircraft produced in the 1930s. An unusual teardrop design gave the fuselage of the craft lift characteristics, and a far rearward cockpit gave the pilot greater visibility during races, particularly in turns. Only two models were built, and both eventually crashed (one due to non-recommended modification), but despite this the model was highly regarded on the race circuits, particularly by the famous Jimmy Doolittle. An iconic image of pioneering days in aviation, this model of the GeeBee R-1 aircraft will make a superb addition to any collection.
