The SR-71, with the moniker of Blackbird, is one of the most distinctive aircraft from the Cold War, particularly for its stealth-inspired look. While its effectiveness as a stealth vehicle is questionable, its speed and other flight characteristics ensured that no SR-71 was ever lost to hostile fire despite more than 4,000 shots fired at the 32 SR-71s built. SR-71s logged more than 10,000 mission flight hours, despite a fluctuating political climate that caused the program to be deactivated and then reinstated in the late 1980s and early 90s. NASA maintains two SR-71s for experimental purposes. Painstaking effort was taken to ensure that this model of the iconic Blackbird will be a piece that collectors of any sort will treasure.
