The F/A-18 Hornet is one of the most modern fighters in widespread, worldwide use. The Hornet was introduced into operational service in 1983, and slowly replaced the Navy's A-6s Intruders and F-14 Tomcats over the course of the 1980s and 90s. F/A-18s have seen action with the U.S. Navy in both Iraq conflicts, as well as several other operations worldwide and limited engagements with the Royal Australian Air Force. The model presented here is painted as a member of the famous Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy's aerobatic demonstration team. Distinctive blue coloration and gold trim, painstakingly recreated in this model, make this item a beautiful addition to any collection.
