With its distinctive swing-wing, the F-14 Tomcat was the U.S. Navy's primary fighter aircraft from 1974 until the 1990s, when the decision was made to replace it. F-14s continued to serve until 2006, when the last combat mission flown by F-14s was undertaken in Iraq. During its 30-year service, the F-14 saw action in both Iraq conflicts, the Sidra Gulf incident where F-14s shot down four Libyan planes after coming under fire, and the Tomcats performed dangerous reconnaissance missions over the Bekaa Valley in the 1980s. Only one F-14 was ever lost to enemy fire, during the Persian Gulf conflict in 1991, an incident that both crewmembers survived.
This model represents and F-14A of VF-111 Sundowners squadron. Painstaking attention to detail is taken on this high-quality model to ensure it is as accurate a representation of its real world counterpart as possible, something that will make it stand out in any collection.
