E-2C Hawkeye

The Grumman E-2 Hawkeye provides Airborne Early Warning and Control to the aircraft of the U.S. Navy, and is crucial to the effectiveness and defense of any carrier group. The Hawkeye is the first carrier-borne aircraft designed exclusively for the Airborne Early Warning role. Its distinctive radio disk, located above the main fuselage, contains a variety of antennae, used in multiple different detection and communications systems. The Hawkeye has served as the eyes of U.S. Navy forces since 1964, and there are currently no plans to replace it.
