The Douglas C-124 Globemaster was one of the U.S. Air Force's first heavy-lift aircraft, and during it's time of primary service, it was the only aircraft in the USAF capable of hauling tanks and other heavy military equipment without requiring the cargo to be disassembled first. Its total cargo capacity was 68,500 lbs (more than 34 tons). As a double-decked passenger hauler, it could carry 200 soldiers with all of their equipment, or 127 litter-borne patients and the required medical attendants. The Globemaster saw service throughout the world with the USAF before being passed to the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve during the late 60s and early 70s. Accurate detailing and meticulous construction ensure that this model will be treasured by anyone who owns it.
