The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was among the largest aircraft of World War II. It saw limited service during that war, being introduced in mid-1944. It was, however, the primary heavy bomber in the Pacific from its introduction until the end of the war, after two B-29s dropped the first atomic bombs, on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The B-29 continued to see combat after World War II, still being the primary heavy bomber during the Korean War. An upgraded variant, termed the B-50 Superfortress, continued to see use in auxiliary roles until 1960, when it was replaced by newer jet-powered aircraft.
This particular model is painted with a silver finish and U.S. Army Air Force details, including nose art from an existing bomber used in World War Two. Such significant attention to detail and attempts at realism make this model a must-have for any collector.
