The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was among the largest aircraft of World War II. It saw limited service during that war, being introduced in mid-1944. It was, however, the primary heavy bomber in the Pacific from its introduction until the end of the war. The B-29 continued to see combat after World War II, still being the primary heavy bomber during the Korean War. An upgraded variant, termed the B-50 Superfortress, continued to see use in auxiliary roles until 1960, when it was replaced by newer jet-powered aircraft.

This particular B-29, the Enola Gay, was the aircraft that dropped the first atomic bomb during an assault on Hiroshima, August 6, 1945, and it's sister plane, the Bockscar, dropped the second and final atomic bomb on Nagasaki, August 9, 1945. These two raids are given credit as being among the primary reasons for the end of World War II.

This finely detailed model commemorates the historic event this bomber participated in, and would be a prized possession of any collector or enthusiast.
