AH-1W Super Cobra

The AH-1 SuperCobra is a two-engine helicopter developed from the single-engine AH-1 Cobra. The twin-engine configuration gives the SuperCobra greater power and combat survivability compared to the original model. The SuperCobra is the U.S. Marine Corps' primary attack helicopter, with 167 in service as of 2008. The Marine Corps has utilized the helicopters in their primary role since Vietnam, and have used them in several engagements worldwide. The SuperCobra is also one of the only helicopters to have engaged and destroyed other helicopters in air-to-air combat, when Iranian operated SuperCobras engaged Iraqi Mi-24s and Mi-8s multiple times during the Iran-Iraq war.
