The AH-1G Huey Cobra is directly related to the UH-1 Huey, sharing some of the same design features, but the two aircraft are also set quite apart in construction and operation. More than a thousand AH-1G helicopters were built for the U.S. army for use in Vietnam, where they logged more than a million hours of operation and nearly 300 airframe losses. The Huey Cobra was also involved in the invasions of Grenada and Panama in the 1980s, as well as limited operation during the 1991 Iraqi conflict.
Over the course of the 1990s, the AH-1G was phased out of primary U.S. Army operation in favor of the more modern Apache, but the twin-engined SuperCobra offshoot continues to be used by the U.S. Marine Corps. Huey Cobras remain in service with other nations such as Israel and Pakistan, and see civilian use with the U.S. Forest Service.
This distinctive and important helicopter is carefully recreated here in this high-quality model. Outstanding attention to detail and a superb finish make this model a must-have for any enthusiast.
