Originally designed to meet United States Navy specifications for a single-seat bomber in World War II, the A-1 Skyraider proved to be an aircraft much more versatile than required, and it enjoyed a very long service life. Skyraiders had an outstanding reputation for survivability and toughness which combined with excellent range and large munitions capacity to make the A-1 a widely used aircraft. The Skyraider's many different versions saw thousands of combat hours during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts under U.S. operation, and other nations flew the aircraft in different conflicts throughout the world. The A-1H was one of the last variants produced, and the most numerous, thanks to increased ordnance capacity and more advanced bomb release equipment. This particular model is a superb recreation of the A-1H variant painted in U.S. Navy colors.
