These flying boats were requested by Pan Am in 1931 to serve as airliners able to fly across the Atlantic. This remarkable aircraft was graceful in flight, with four impressive overhead engines and an interior passenger area that was comfortable and luxurious, with wide armchairs and meals that included china and silver.
