Part of the DC-9 family of aircraft, the MD-80 series airliner flies mid-range flights for a number of different airlines around the world. The MD-80 aircraft are updates of the DC-9 airframe, and themselves have a variety of follow-on upgrades, including the MD-95/Boeing 717.
